Uniforms & General Appearance

 

UNIFORM

Grades 1 and 2 wear the  uniform  dress of  blue check on a white background, and the winter uniform of a white Convent T shirt (available at school), dark blue  trousers and beige v –neck jersey.  Grades 3 to 7 wear the plain blue dress (available at school) winter uniform beige shirt and blue trousers.

  • Full uniform (including hats) must always be worn.  No pupil may leave the School grounds in incomplete uniform.  It follows that no pupil may leave the school premises in sports, ballet or any other kind of dress.
  • Uniforms must be clean, in good state of repair and worn with pride.
  • Patterned jerseys are not allowed and jerseys must be worn in the proper manner or carried in the case.
  • Hats are compulsory and elastic must be replaced when necessary.
  • Short beige socks for summer, long socks for winter.
  • Sports kit should be carried in the regulation Convent kit bag which should be clearly marked. There are two sizes:- Small for Grades  I to III and large for Grades IV to VII.
  • Only regulation school satchels and kit bags are allowed. Pupils should have a book bag to hold and protect their books from accidents when cool drinks are spilled in their satchels.
  • Every article belonging to the pupil must be labelled and this includes kit bags, satchels, lunch boxes, cool drink bottles, ballet kit and all sports equipment. Each pupil should always wear a name badge in her house colour.
  •  Every pupil must bring the writing material that she requires, pens, pencils, ruler and colours.
  • A passport size photo is required for your daughter’s school file.
  • Last but not least a very important piece of advice. Open a file for your daughter now so that all documents from school are safe and can always be found. The Convent will continue to be the best school as long as we have good co – operation that we have with the parents.

All items of uniform must be clearly marked.

 

GENERAL APPEARANCE

Pupils should be clean and tidy at all times.

  • Hair should be tidy, with long  hair tied back.  No hair extensions are allowed. Blue ribbons may be worn.
  • No jewellery may be worn.   Studs or sleepers are allowed  and a Medic Alert Bracelet if required.
  • Shoes or sandals should be in good repair and should always be clean.

Remember when you are in uniform you are recognised as Convent pupils and should be a credit to the school. In your behaviour and appearance you should also be a credit to your parents who have chosen to send to this school.

 

 REQUIREMENTS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

 

  1. Pupils require at least two uniforms: check dress for Gr.I  and II, and plain blue dress for Gr.III upwards,and the winter uniforms which are all available at school.
  2. Our winter uniform consists of blue trousers, and a beige blouse, V-neck jersey and Convent T shirt for Gr.I and II.The T- shirt may be purchased from the secretary’s office at school. Swimming caps should be in child’s house colour.
  3. The jersey, ankle socks, school hat, sports uniform, regulation blue costume etc are available at the stockists.

We would like to welcome you as new parents to our school now that your daughter has been accepted at the Dominican Convent Primary School. I stress the latter because automatic progression into the High School. Our pupils sit the High School Entrance Examination in competition with outside pupils.

 

We are first and foremost a Catholic school and so all pupils attend religious services and assemblies. Our Catholic pupils are prepared for first Holy Communion in Grade III and usually join their own parishes for this celebration usually on the feast of Christ the King at the end of November.
